What is meant by a “rood“?

A rood is a historic English measure of area. Originally, an area of 1 rood wide and 40 roods long is a quarter of an acre.

As it is easily converted into acres, rood is often used in surveying. Referring to areas, rod can be used instead of rood.

How to Convert Rood into other units?

1 rood = 40 square pole

1 rood ~=  1011 m2 71 dm2 41 cm2

1 rood = 0.10117141056 hectare

1 rood = 0.000390625 sq mi

1 rood = 1210 sq yd

1 rood =10890 sq ft

Example: convert 10 rood to square pole:
10 rood = 10 × 40 square pole = 400 square pole
